American Made Bedroom Furniture

Answers

Solid wood, Unfinished furniture?

Looking for a good quality supplier of solid hardwood (no particle board, etc.) unfinished furniture.

I would prefer American made, no imports. Chairs and tables mostly, but also casegoods (bedroom items, etc.)

Thanks.

Go to www.unfinishedfurniture.org

This will give you a listing of every major unfinished furniture manufacturer in the US, plus a great dealer locater to help you find a source near your home.

I would not recommend www.woodyou.com as most of their offerings are made in Brazil, Malaysia, Vietnam, China or Mexico. They have very little American made furniture.

Bedroom HELP!?

Well my bedroom needs a make-over now!
First off my bedroom is an adverage size. All my furniture is crappy wood, I have a HUGE wardrobe that doesnt let me open my door.
My bed is a queen size and is really cute and its black,
I have light green walls, kind of a light mint colour.
got a HUGE tv and my room is starting to clutter with junk.
So now I have cleaned it and I want a change!
Im in to very bright colours like pink, purple, green!
And Im aloud to paint my walls aswell, im thinking painting the walls purple but I dunno!?
It cant cost to much because I dont have that much maybe it all can cost $200 and under would be great!!
Oh and I live in australia so dont give me any american sites or anything!
Maybe a theme would be nice and I want something that makes my room look neat and BRIGHT!!
Thanks alot and best answer will get top points!!

if you like your black bed, why not paint the crappy wood and everything else black to match the bed? then you can have bright colored walls with white ceiling/trim/curtains/bedding. this way, if you get sick of the bright color, you can change it out quite quickly. all the furniture matches, and white bedding and such? goes with everything. i have huge doors on small rooms that made it hard to open the doors so i had quite a few of them switched out with french doors that open from the center and are only half as big.

Decorate bedroom help!!!?

light green and black work vey well together. lavender would look good on the walls as well as a baby blue. plus, you could get some organizers like cute cabinets and stuff. good luck

How to decorate a teen, kind of girly/sophisticated bedroom?

Well, I'm 13 years old, and my bedroom at the moment is alright, but it just needs to actually show my style, and be interesting and needs decoration basically.
My style?: I really love light and bright shades of purple, and I also love silver, black, and pink... stuff that colourful, but with a touch of sparkle (i love sparkles, any suggestions for sparkly things?)

Well, I had in total 131 jonas brothers posters on my wall before, but I took them down cos they made my room look bad (cry cry.. lol)...

SO any suggestions on what to buy??
How can I make it look good??

Also:

- I CAN'T PAINT my walls, lol my mum started yelling when I asked her... :P

(How the conversation went about wall colour (along the lines)
"ugh, but they're white!"
"I don't care... when I was your age, my walls were peach"
"Well at least it's a colour.... and that was like 50 years ago or something... there's more paint in the world"
"[YELLING and lecture about walls and old days for several minutes]"
....
SO I can't paint...................

Oh.. alsoooo...
- Limit of about $250-$400 (remember, I don't need furniture, just deco.)
Thankyou...
In advance
If someone says the JB's are bad... I will smash their face over the internet.
...
THANKYOU!!!

P.S: Lol I'm from Australia, so if you shop at walmart and like only american stores, don't suggest things with prices to go and buy from them cos that's kinda pointless, but if you say you can get things from walmart, I know what you mean, and they sell the same things in target and stuff...
so yeh.

Instead of buying things from stores like Target or Big W (Walmart in Australia) why not go to a craft store like Spotlight and pick out different fabrics with the textures and colours you like best. Then make a duvet or doona cover for your quilt you already have. Same with pillows and pillow cases, it's easy enough to sew straight lines with a sewing machine, or get your mum to help you.

With decor for the walls, get some blank canvas (you can buy some cheap ones at Crazy Clark's, Spotlight, any craft store...) buy your favourite colours in paint, glitter, even bits of fabric left over from your bed stuff, and make some abstract art to hang on those white walls!

And if you need window hangings, go back the fabric department and pick some out.

Letter to convince my mom to get a cat?

Please read it and tell me what to add/subtract. Thanks for your time.

Dear Mom,
I am writing you this letter instead of talking to you in person, because I don’t want you to think I look disappointed in person, which I mostly likely would be. I love listening to your stories about when you were a kid and when your brother brought home a kitten, and you got to keep it.
If I got a cat, I promise it would be all mine, unless you wanted it to be yours too. What I mean by all mine is that I would train it, brush it everyday, clean the litter box, feed it, give it water, give it baths, anything I would have to do to care for it. You wouldn’t even have to lift a finger.
If I got a cat, I realize that cats shed. After researching cats, I learned about kinds of cats that shed the least. I also learned that if you groom and bath your cat that reduces shedding. I promise I would brush it everyday, twice a day if needed, so that not a single hair is left on your furniture. I could also use a fabric cleaner to pick up any hair.
If I got a cat, I would get it declawed so it wouldn’t scratch our furniture. If I couldn’t get it declawed, I would keep its nails trimmed short so that its nails wouldn’t scratch the couches or any furniture.
If I got a cat, I realize that Allison is slightly allergic. If a cat is brushed every day and frequently bathed it can reduce dander. I would wash the cat at least once a week with special shampoo and Allerpet, which reduces dander. Also I would vacuum areas that the cat is in, and places that Allison commonly spends time. The cat would only be aloud in certain areas; it wouldn’t be aloud in Allison’s bedroom, your bedroom, Lauren’s bedroom, the kitchen and the TV area. I wouldn’t let the cat go in the TV area because I know Allison spends a lot of time in there. I could also get an air purifier in my room because the cat would spend most of its time in there.
If I got a cat, while I was at school I would keep it in a playpen until it is trained. Cats love to snuggle just like me so it would be a perfect fit! Cats are wonderful companions, and if you think a dog would be difficult to care for, than a cat would be a snap. I would adopt it from the humane society, or animal hospital. I would make sure it was Siamese or American shorthair because both are little shedding. I would keep the cats litter box in my bathroom along with its food and water.
So please read this letter and let me know if there are any other reasons a cat wouldn’t be right for our family, and I will try and find ways to fix the problems you come up with. Also I know dad hates cats but I know if we got one he would grow to love it and as long as it doesn’t bother him it would be fine.
P.S. I love you no matter what you say, but I think this would be perfect for our family so please give it a chance. I spent a long time writing this letter so it would mean a lot to me if you thoroughly read each point.
the only problem is my mom is really hard to convince and even with an amazing letter i am ready to be turned down
the cat would not be limited from many areas i have a very large house
i saw that my mom opened the letter but she hasn't even said anything to me:( thats usually a bad sign

This a great letter. You really did your research and I'm sure although you say your mom is really hard to convince this may soften her some and you may just get that cat. Good luck. I hope you get one.

Thousands starting over after foreclosure

At the beginning of 2008, with the stains of foreclosure and bankruptcy still muddying her credit report, Jane Sullivan almost couldn't believe she was buying a home again.

Just eight years earlier, Sullivan's ex-husband had cleaned out her bank accounts while she was in the hospital delivering their third daughter. The bank foreclosed on Sullivan's Miami Lakes home.

She needed a place to live, a job that would accommodate a new mother and help supporting her older daughters, one in high school and the other in college. But her sullied credit was holding her back.

As the number of foreclosures in South Florida and around the country escalates, thousands of people are finding themselves in the situation where Sullivan was nearly 10 years ago, with their emotions shredded and their finances in disarray. Some still aren't able to buy a decade later.

``This is a traumatic experience,'' said Howard Dvorkin, founder of the nonprofit Consolidated Credit Counseling Services in Fort Lauderdale, especially ``if you have equity in your home, if you have children and you have to uproot them.''

American Made Leather Furniture - What You've Been Missing

The artistry and craftsmanship of furniture has evolved much over the centuries. So too has the old world techniques of leather tanning that have come from European tanneries. Colonists coming to America in the 1700's brought with them many of these furniture and upholstery building techniques into the new world. In this article we'll examine American leather furniture manufacturing and the role European tanneries still have today.
