I just saw a great idea on a blog. This lady goes to garage sales, which are big right now, and gets her furniture...Then she uses spray paint and sealer! You could probably find something you like at a garage sale, thrift shop, or maybe even family or friends, and then sand and paint any color you like.
If that doesn't sound good, then I would suggest IKEA. They always have cool stuff at a reasonable price.

We have extremely heavy bedroom furniture (hugh dressers, dresser drawers & king size wooden frame bed all situated on two sides of the room at the OUTSIDE WALLS of the house). Any possible problems? The rest of the house is about 2200 sq ft, 1 sty, with conc tile roof. Thank you.
Most foundations use a concrete mix listed as a 3000# mix. That means that a test cylinder made by the same the concrete can withstand a force of 3000 lbs per square inch before it fails. Heavy furniture won't make a dent.

Through searching online at www.pricegrabber.com, nextag.com and amazon.com I found Modus and Somerton furniture brands. Both brands are close in price but I cant find very much info on their quality. I need help finding the best quality dresser and nighstands for the price. Thanks
Probably about the same quality. You know what? You can go to a local furniture retailer and get advice from the sales associates. They have plenty of experience with returns customer complaints etc.
We are changing from Aarons to something else.

Edit: to clarify, I don't want cheap or laminate so Ikea, Target, Walmart and the like are not the sort of places I'd buy. I don't have time to scour used furniture stores, as much as the option appeals to me since I love old stuff. And I do want it to last for years. I'm looking for recommendations for middle to higher end retailers that people have experience with. Target's laminates are actually really sturdy for being laminate. I was just discussing with a friend today my awe at how well her kiddos' bedroom furniture has held up for the past three years - she's got two sets of twins and one singleton, and the southshore white/natural maple collection. (I helped her pick it out, so I have it memorized. ;))

ETA that there are definitely dressers at Crate & Barrel for under $600. Ethan Allen is above your price range- the cheapest they've got is around $800. Thomasville is probably above it as well. I wouldn't recommend...News
