Leavesden couple celebrate 50 years of marriage in 60 minutes

A couple celebrating their golden wedding anniversary are enjoying fifteen minutes of fame, following an appearance on popular Granada television show ‘60 Minute Makeover.’

Anne and Mick Strange of High Road, Leavesden, who have been married 50 years, were surprised by their three daughters; Lynn Payne, Nina Strange and Lea Dury, as well as the production team, when they found that their house had undergone a transformation, all within an hour.

Duped into believing their daughter Lea Dury needed assistance at her new pub in Bricket Wood, an unsuspecting Anne and Mick took a short break to pay her a visit, only to return to find that their bedroom, lounge and kitchen had been revamped and redecorated.

Following the makeover filmed in June, the television programme was aired last Friday.

Anne, 67, an active member of the Church of Nazarene, said: “As we were neared our street we saw cameras filming and I just assumed it had something to do with the studios nearby.
