Light Oak Bedroom Furniture

I've been trying to find some pictures for inspiration, but haven't had any luck. We have light oak bedroom furniture with white carpets and walls. Most of the pictures I've seen have hard wood flooring, which we can't afford!

The bedroom set is plain, but has a traditional oak feel and tri=fold mirror.
Any ideas for an imagery theme, other than roses/flowers?
My man has no particular ideas for this room, so I don't have much input there...

A collection of family photographs in ornate oak frames might be nice. Children's artwork can also be framed to add a happy feeling to the room. You can frame just about anything. Frame several pieces of color coordinating fabric and hang in a cluster on the wall. Go to a flea market to scout for old picture frames of various sizes and hang in a group, one inside of the other. Or, take one large frame and hang on the wall. Paint your own picture directly on the wall inside the frame. Check out this web site for more bedroom ideas.

I need to sell our bedroom furniture set, but I have no idea what type of wood it is. My husband owned it before we got married and he doesn't even know! It looks like light oak, but with darker circles throughout it. He thinks they're called knots, but I cannot find anything online. If anyone has an idea, thanks!

Depending on the size of the 'circles' . . . the first thing that came to mind was "Birds-Eye Maple". The 'circles' are pretty small and literally look like birds' eyes on blonde colored wood. It's nice wood and certainly a much harder wood than pine. I think that pine has occasional 'circles' (pine knots) but usually more 'swirls' than knots. If you can make a small dent with your fingernail in an inconspicuous spot, then it is probably a 'soft wood' (such as pine). If not, i would think you are dealing with something other than pine wood.

im a 13 year old girl and my room right now is baby baby blue and i have light oak furniture. i cant paint the walls cause its already been painted from dark green to baby baby blue (the colour it is now).On my walls I only have a mirror, a pinboard,a clock,my school photos and a picture of me and my mum dad and brother, what else could make it a bit nicer? Im really girly so I was thinking fairy lights = ]

What is good for our age right now is lime green! Lime green brights up a room and goes well with oak furniture. Since you say you are so girly I might even do 2 walls lime green and 2 walls pink. Are you planning on getting a new bedspread? Usualy you want to start with that first and pick a wall color to match. What is also in is wall decals. Dali's decals is a great place to get them- http://dalidecals.com/ They have many inexpensive decals that will live up a room. A great idea is to get a white one and put it on the lime gree wall. Balck decals cane go on lime green or pink.

Moving into an apartment next week, white walls, white blinds, beige carpet, oak colored cabinets. Should I pick light or dark wood furniture? Dark wood fits my personality better (traditional) but I don't think I would like all dark wood through out the apartment. What are the pro's and con's of each type of wood. Also, can I mix and match? light in the bedroom, dark in the living room / dining area or vice versa.

No decorating sense whatsoever would welcome any/all opinions.

i buy whatever i like. however keep in mind that dark furniture will make a room feel more crowded so if you have small rooms maybe consider a medium or light tone. but with all the white walls etc...you probably will be ok with dark anyway.
