White Wood Bedroom Furniture

Hi, I'm thinking about getting an unfinished dresser so I can match an old bed I already have, but I wanted to know if the particular dresser I'm looking at is made out of good wood or just something junky. It's made out of white spruce. Would you say that's an okay wood? I know cherry and mahogany are really good woods for furniture, but aside from that, I'm clueless. Thanks.

White spruce is not the best furniture wood but can be acceptable. The details of contruction for the dresser are probably a better indicator of how well the piece of furniture will last.

Are the drawers made with dovetail joints? That is a sign of good construction.

Are the sides, front and back put together with mortise and tendon joints? Another sign of good construction.

Are the draw sides and bottoms made from solid wood or are they particle board, MDF or other similar material? They should be solid wood or at least good quality plywood.

Currently the walls are white and the trim is yellow. I've really had it with this combo. Any suggestions for the walls? I'm not afraid of color. Thanks!

It really depends on what mood you are going for. Do you want dramatic? You could do a nice wine or burgundy color. Or if you want to brighten up the space and make it more vibrant, you could also paint in the true primary colors (blue, red and yellow). It's really a personal preference. For myself, I have dark wood furniture in my bedroom and light carpet (I think it's a grayish color) and I've chosen to decorate it with various shades of blue. But that's because I wanted to decorate my room in a beach theme and have something relaxing for me.

I have dark wood bedroom furniture, and a white/ivory sheet set. There are light hard wood floors in the bedroom. I want to get a rug for the room but I'm not sure what to get considering the lightness of it all? The curtains are very light (see-through) and ivory as well. What color rug can I get to add a bit of color, but not over power the light scheme of the room?

If you pick a dark color, such as red, the rug will show all the lint. I would suggest a sage green or pale gold, which will go well with the ivory of the curtains.

Hi everyone! i'm designing one of my friend's bedroom. it's really small. and the colors and stuff are listed. should i add another color? i was thinking paint one wall a different color. like a bright orange or red or green. or maybe something more masculine like navy.

i would definitely pick an accent color to brighten it up a bit. I don't think you need to paint a wall unless they truly want to (it would be nice.) I think just adding some artwork (maybe take some personal photos of your friend and turn them into black and white prints but leave one thing, a focal point, in each a color.. possibly the color you choose as your accent.

I would stay way from anything dark as navy for an accent color, what about adding something a bit more interesting like red (if they like bright colors) or even a moss green or a grey tone...

Im giving my small bedroom a light and airy makeover that will just make everything feel bigger. The shelves are being painted the breezy blue as the walls, and I've picked out new furniture that is off-white....country styled.

Will this clash too badly with my brown wooden flooring? Maybe a good rug placed where the bed and floor meet can even things out?

No, it will be beautiful. The brown flooring will make your white furniture stand out. That is the look I'm doing too.
