where can i find decent second hand furniture for sale (not too exspensive) from Merseyside?

I am in need of a 2 seater sofa and 1 chair. a coffee table. and a dining room table and 4chairs.

My Mum and Dad live in Merseyside (on the Wirral) and they swear by auctions! They have got some brilliant bargains from their local one (i.e. Dyson vacuums for £10). So I'd look in the Echo and see if there are any near where you are! Happy hunting.

Where can you buy second hand furniture and white goods in Abu Dhabi?

I have tried www.souq.com and gulf news but are there any other options besides this websites. I am looking for a sofa, dining table and white goods in really good condition.

Look at the black boards of Spinney's and Abela's. Expats leaving offer their furniture there.
Did you look at Gulf News under Classifieds: Expats leaving?

Tell all your friends. When it comes up to Expats, Abu Dhabi is a village and you might get lucky that somebody knows somebody who knows somebody. That's how it mostly works.

Good luck!

second hand furniture?

where can one find good second hand furniture in singapore..mainly looking for dining set, sofa and tv console..it seems that new items are very costly..dont want to stay here more than three years..which is the best place to find used furnitures? (good condition)

i did notice that when expats leave Singapore, they tend to put up advertisements in Straits Times classified ad for open house sale. i think this is a good place to go to. Best wishes.

Second hand furniture from SMOKE home-The effects?

Hi, we recently got 2 sets of chairs, and dining chairs, and curtains, quilt covers (which we will obviously wash) etc, and it really makes the house smell of smoke, as the previous owner really was a heavy smoker.

What im wondering, is can the smoke be damaging still? We have 2 very young children and I pregnant with our third, and I am just worried, with the effects, as I know experts say you should never sleep near a child if you are a smoker, does anyone know if the chairs etc are suitable for our children to be sitting on, or even suitable to be used in the house?

Thanks in advance

Cheers

They will be fine. There is a huge difference between actual secondhand smoke and just the smell of smoke. You wouldn't confuse eating fish with the smell of fish, would you?

Manners matter, especially for the holidays

"The Goops they lick their fingers

And the Goops they lick their knives:

They spill their froth on the tablecloth

Oh, they lead disgusting lives!

The Goops they talk while eating,

And loud and fast they chew;

And that is why I'm glad that I

Am not a Goop, are you?"

Well, are you?

With Thanksgiving right around the corner, let's revisit this poem by American humorist Gelett Burgess (1866-1951) and dust off our dormant dining etiquette.

By the time the turkey hits the table, it'll be too late for gentle reminders about not wiping our mouths on our shirtsleeves.

We have a pro to guide us: Susanna Theo,

maven of manners, critic of comportment, purveyor of politeness and owner of Virginia Beach-based Protocol and Etiquette Services, presents this refresher on dining basics for a successful family dinner in a private home.

We have 11 days to practice. Let's get started:

Please be seated. Take your cue from the host or hostess about when and where to sit. If there are place cards, it's not nice to switch them around, even if nobody's looking.

Lawrence's Manila Colonial Renovation House Call | Apartment ...

I've been living independently in my 30-year-old flat for nearly nine years now. The place needed repairs, some renovation and refurbishing. I decided to make the place better to make me perform better. By the way, I work at home being an independent advertising creative and graphic designer. For now, the first floor is finished. The place veered towards a colonial look. More importantly it tried to be green at the same time "cost less than my laptop." Hues are delft blue, eggshell blue and bird's egg green. Walls are a soft cream with one in grey intended for photography use. The finishes are in dark wood and chrome silver.

Many pieces are recycled and repurposed such as the electric fan light fixture and soda can bottom mirror. Two ottomans were made from the paint's plastic pails. Pieces such as the chairs and the trunk center table came from thrift shops. I have been inspired a lot by Apartment Therapy while working on this project. So I'd like to express my appreciation as well.
