I am in need of what kind of style to decorate my home in. It has a colonial cottage style on the outside. The inside has curved archways. New laminent pine flooring and white trime. Does anyone have any suggestions on what style I should go with? I do have a lovely arched phone nook that looks from the living room through the dinning room and plan on purchusing an antique rotary phone although the phone jack is a little bit dated. What style should I do with the furniture?
I also love Cottage style furnishings. They're a little less formal than traditional although you can mix them together. Go to the link below and click on different styles and you'll get tons of ideas.

I grew up in south fl and am now living in western ny. I am deffinetly homesick and was wondering what are some classic beach cottage looks for your home? I was thinking Light blue walls w\ white furniture. but what style of soffas chairs, wall color ideas?pleas ehelp
sounds like you have got the right idea
take your inspiration from the coast itself - so blues, greens, slate greys, sand colors with whites, creams, beiges etc will go great
try to choose natural products for furniture, fabrics, accessories etc - linen, seagrass, wood, leather etc
keep it all very simple and 'homely' but mainly quite 'pale' and clean looking, and you should be onto a winner
good luck and hope you get the feel of the seaside at home really soon
(I too used to live by the sea, and don't any more - I miss it too)
The house plan is located on www.rosschapin.com. It is the Egret cottage. I would love to make all of choices about what goes in to the house from the flooring to bath fixtures to cabinets. I'm estimating that a $100,000.00 should cover the home, land and anything else we need whether it be furniture or landscaping. Is it better to do a turn key or to just have a contractor build a shell and we do the rest? And is my estimate just wishful thinking? Any suggestions on how we should go about this would be appreciated.
i think $120K is more accurate. give you and your contractors some wiggle room. no turn key cuz it's boring.

Hi there
I am located in Canada, first of all!
I just bought a 130 yr old farmhouse a few months ago. I am currently decorating it, because the previous owners did a great job of renovating it. Some minor things here and there need to be fixed, but overall it just needs some decor.
We just had a baby in July and I am staying home with her. AND we're paying for our own wedding in September!! So my budget is about $500 to accessorize the entire house. I have all new furniture, so all I really need to do is accessorize. I just bought new towels, but need bedding, wall art, cushions, and little accessories like candle holders, curtains, etc.
Do you have any ideas for me, like DIY ideas, OR a REALLY cheap and still chic website I can check out? has to ship stuff to Canada! Also, my style is sort of modern cottage- I LOVE modern wooden & veneer stuff, farmhouse/cottage, and organic, botanical styles... ideas & websites would be appreciated!!
I love Bed, bath and Beyond. I know its a store here in the U.S., but I'm not sure about Canada. Sorry, never been there. But heres the website if you want to check it out.

I am from a very influential family. And rich. I was tired of being
constantly watched and told what to do, so I ran away from my father, luxurious life and Kunitz with Fritzing, our old librarian. We went to England, and purchased a cottage there, and were in a process to installing a bath in it, when we ran out of money. I don't know where all the money went, I did nothing extravagant, and wore the same dress day after day; we just had a party for children, some furniture and bought two cottages to make them one, that's all.
Now we have nothing to eat, nothing to wear, almost nothing to do. I abhor the thought of going back, defeated. I dreamed about liberty, reading, quiet walks without supervision. Plus, my father wanted to marry me off for his convenience. What should I do?
to make matters worse, a son of a local pastor, and a local squire both fell in love with me, and pester me. I had to box the pastor's son's ears!

Andrew: Leather is great for so many reasons. It is durable, you can dress it up or down and when classically cut, it never goes out of style. These things also apply to leather in home furnishings. Diversity is really the key when designing with leather. There are many styles and finishes available. And most recently, we have seen really innovative designs with leather in home flooring. Tino: Well it is not the first time that I am asked that question. Actually, they are extremely durable. We used a 2.7-millimeter top layer of leather and on top of that. We also have a water based finish. A very hard wearing water based finish. So that gives us the warranty that these probably will perform very well in terms of traffic so much so that we offer 25 year residential ware warranty. Tino: So we are using a raw material that otherwise would end up in a landfill. As I showed you before, we used an HDF core. An HDF is made of a soft wood that is very fast growth. It comes from managed forests...
