IKEA is said to be an international home products retailer that sells low-price products, including furniture, accessories, bathrooms and kitchens at retail stores around the world. However, for some people the price is quite expensive. What do you think?
I believe IKEA has a lot of items that are cheap, but that doesn't make them affordable. They advertise that they are inexpensive because they use a cookie cutter process to make their items, but to me, a $1000 bedroom set is indeed expensive, especially if you'll have to buy another one in a couple years due to its poor quality.
Yes, they have $5.00 lamps and $10.00 tables, but what good does it do your pocketbook to buy these items if they'll just break and need replacing?

Guillermo’s Furniture Store Scenario
While many people know that Sonora, Mexico is a beautiful vacation spot, it is also a large furniture manufacturing location in North America. Guillermo Navallez made furniture for years near his Sonoran home. The area had a good supply of timber for the variety of tables and chairs produced by his company. Labor was also relatively inexpensive. In addition, he priced his handcrafted products at a slight premium for the quality they represented. Overall, life was good for Guillermo.
All of that was true until late in the 1990s when two forces combined to cause a large dent in his business. First, a new competitor from overseas entered the furniture market. Using a high-tech approach, this foreign competition provided furniture to exact specifications and did so with rock-bottom prices. Second, the sleepy communities in Sonora woke up. One of the largest retailers in the nation’s headquarters was just a few miles down the road, and its influence had expanded considerably. With inexpensive housing, mild weather, beautiful scenery, un-congested roads, a new International Airport, and plenty of development, an influx of people and jobs raised the cost of labor substantially. Guillermo watched his profit margins shrink as prices fell and costs rose.
After doing some research on his competition to see how they are handling these changes, it is clear that many of them are consolidating into larger organizations by merger or acquisition. Being independent, Guillermo does not relish the idea of being acquired by a larger competitor and then retired as the new company squeezes every peso it could out of the overhead costs. Guillermo also is not looking to expand his management responsibilities by acquiring another organization either; that could affect his time with his family in ways that he will not enjoy.
Guillermo then spent some time looking at the foreign competition and their high-tech solution. Essentially, their production utilizes a computer controlled laser lathe to produce exact cuts in the wood. Highly automated, the plant in Norway uses very little labor as robots even perform the precise movement and assembly functions. The cost of the technology is immense, as is the reduction in the labor needed for production. In addition, the production can move between products quickly, and it runs on a 24-hour basis, as the shift-differentials are more than offset by the reduction in labor. Converting his production to this model would be expensive, but he saw how he could also decrease dramatically his production costs.
When talking to some of his distributors about their wants, he had another idea that appealed to him. A second competitor, currently operating only in Norway, has been looking for channels to distribute in North America. This second potential rival, however, did not operate furniture outlets favoring instead to rely on chain distributors. Perhaps Guillermo could coordinate his existing distributor network and essentially become a representative for this other manufacturer. While he may retain some of the high end custom work, he could move his company from primarily manufacturing to primarily distribution.
Guillermo also has a patented process for creating a coating for his furniture. In producing this product, the process first creates a common flame-retardant, and upon further processing, the coating is complete and stain resistant. There is market for the flame retardant, but not as much of a market for the finished coating. There is another product that Guillermo could buy to apply to his furniture as well that would add the same amount of value for the furniture.

Is this story for a book, I got bored reding it.
My son is now 6mo by his 1 year i plan on going to the US. My sister will care for him-she is 30something yr old responsible nurse from GA with 3 children n a home, car etc...I need to return for I have a case n expect jail time (thinking 3 yrs max-i am in NY). My now husband will allow me to take him bc I lowered the seriousness of my case to him sayin probation.... My husband is emotionally, physically, and mentally abusive to me. He has a lower class job in Scandinavia- cleans the airport-though he is a national and knows the language.... He has an apartment I put the deposit and paid for 75% of the appliances and furniture---I have reciepts... When i arrive to the US I plan on filing for divorce and international child support for my sister....My son was born in Scandinavia but will be American.... My husband also is banned from the US for 10 yrs for over staying his Visa for 7 years... He has also never really taken care of my son- a bath, feeding, diaper change, none.... For the welfare of my son I know it is better for him to be with my sister..... If he stays with my huband n his family in Scandinavia... they will bad mouth me and only meet the minimum of his needs and plus I am scared I will never see him again if we stay married or divorce.... Will a judge over look my circumstances and let my sister keep custody for the time being....
does you son have dual citizenship? if he doesnt i would think that the custody hearing would be held in the country he is a citizen of.. if he's a dual citizen i would assume it would be the country he currently is residing in, but i dont know that. you are going to need a lawyer familiar with custody laws in both countries... if he is strictly a us citizen i would think the judge would award your sister temporary custody because to grant it the the father they would essentially be forcing the baby to stay out of his country
I would like to invite my colleagues at my home.
In total 17 person, from 1pm to 4 pm (to be considered with my neighbors) but
1. I do not have enough chairs/seats to sit down and I do not want to buy more because I do not want to covered by furniture.
2. I want to serve only cake and wine/juice and coffee, but I can also to suggest since we are an international group everyone is invited to bring a dish from their country, I prefer also dessert.
Do you think is a good idea to have all my colleagues at my home?
I did not do it before,
I am gratefully for any advice, suggestions regarding my plan.
Thank you!
by colleagues, I assume you mean business associates. I would not ask business associates to a pot-luck (when people bring a dish). Also, your choice of foods does not really go together. Wine would go better with some cheeses and crackers, perhaps some little hordeuvres. Coffee and juice are fine, with some small, sophisticated deserts. If it is to be an international gathering, perhaps you could choose a few items representing some of the countries of the people you are inviting. Keep it simple. And you could perhaps borrow chairs from your church, or rent them. Or invite a neighbor and some of her chairs.
