Going on hols to New York, worried shopping won't fit in suitcase, could I post it home? Any idea of cost?
Dreadlocked Girl Is Lost In A Manner Akin To Film Home Alone 2: Lost In New York, Only She Is Not In New York.

Has anyone done this? How much might it cost and what about customs?

Is it just you going?
If your going with someone else then maybe take two big suitcases and take as little as possible!
I went with 3 other people and took medium sized suitcases and then 2 of them shared a big one. And in the big one we put a large weekend bag type of thing and coming home we filled that up with stuff and the one of the people who shared had that as their case at the aiport.

Otherwise take as larger handluggage as you can (Going By The Hand Luggage Guide Line Size) And pack as much as you can into their some places they allow you to take a laoptop bag & hand luggage so if you take a laptop you can pack some small things into that.

I'm not sure on shipping prices, but the larger it is the more expensive so if you have to ship then i'd suggest ship the smaller things.

christmas shopping in New York?
For Timmy

has anybody any tips/experiences of christmas shopping in new york, where to go exactly. im from England and would like to bring my 9 year old daughter christmas shopping in NY for a long weekend maybe 4 days. Is there a hamleys toy shop there (and was that the shop used in home alone, Duncan's toy chest). ive been to hamleys in London and it was superb, any advise or comments would be most appreciated thanks

You should go to F.A.O. Schwartz. (That's the store that was featured in Home Alone. You might also recognize it from the movie Big.) It's kind of expensive, but fun, and kids are allowed to play with a lot of the toys on display.

If your daughter is nine, you might also want to go by the American Girl store on 49th St. and 5th Avenue. It's huge--we're talking three or four floors full of dolls, doll clothes, and accessories. They have kid-size clothes to match the dolls' outfits too. There is even a doll salon in the store where you can have them change the doll's hair style, there's a doll hospital, and there's a cafe, all inside the store.

Then we have the usual chain stores: Toys 'R Us and Kay-Bee Toys. I warn you: Right before Christmas, all these stores are going to be madhouses. Try to come at least a week before Christmas, if not sooner. And bundle up. It'll be cold.

P.S. The big Toys 'R Us in Times Square has a giant Ferris wheel right in the store that I'm sure your daughter would love. I took my nephew on it when he was about 7 or 8 and we had a great time.

Shopping in New York....what is there?? Also somewhere cheap and comfy to stay?
L1030824

Ok i asked a question about New York the other day and the answers were fantastic!

However what i didnt find out is what is the shopping like?
Is it all very expensive designer stuff?
Will i be able to come home with lots of cool stuff with $1600 ?
How is it in comparison to London?

Also im still struggling for where to stay.
Preferably i wanna stay in Manhattan, but i dont want to pay a fortune!
I just want somewhere clean and comfy to crash at the end of the day.

And finally any advice on flights?? (I'll be leaving from London)
Does anywhere have a sale on flights soon??

Macys on 34th street has 7 huge floors. You can easily spend $1600 in one day. Bloomingdale on 3rd ave and 59th Street a store where you can die and be reborn, expensive as hell, all Christian Dior, Chanel, Fendi, even if you do not buy anything go and see it, it is great, they do have some affordable things however but Macy's is cheaper. Lots of stores around Macy's on 34th, just wonder around. I do not know what brands you have in England and what would be new for you so just go everywhere you see and shop. Prices in city are appr. 5-10% more then the same store in Brooklyn for example. I prefer to shop in NJ, we have some very nice outlet malls there, like Garden Mall at Elisabeth, NJ, but I do not know how to get there from city, sorry.
If you want to save on hotel, try Brooklyn hotels, but you will have to take subway to get to city.
Have fun

I'm looking for some cute, cheap, shopping in New York, any suggestions?

My sister and I are going to New York in a couple of weekends, and we want to go shopping. We're staying in the Upper East Side, so anywhere nearby that area would be good, but location also shouldn't be a limitation.
We both have similar styles; a combination of urban outfitters, forever 21, and MadeWell, but we don't want to go anywhere that we have back home in D.C. And price is a pretty big factor; the cheaper the better.
So if you have any suggestions on areas with good places, or even specific stores would be cool too. Thank you so much!

34th street has some great places. Spring street is great as well. China Town is a MUST!

Good priced stuff. Get ready to walk around A LOT though! GL!

  • NFL Picks and Odds Week 6 - Giants at Saints

Since 2006, New Orleans quarterback Drew Brees leads the NFL in passing yardage. The Saints have four different players that have at least 14 catches led by tight end Jeremy Shockey. This season the Saints also have a good defense as they rank first in the NFL with 13 takeaways. The defense ranks sixth in the NFL at 295.3 yards per game and safety Darren Sharper leads the league with five interceptions.

New York has simply been a great road team in NFL odds for many years. They are 37-18-3 against the spread in their last 58 road games. New Orleans has been very good at home lately laying points. The Saints are 5-0 in NFL picks for their last 5 games as a home favorite. The problem for New Orleans is that they are poor following their bye week. The Saints are 0-4 ATS in their last 4 games following a bye week. Looking at the total in NFL odds we see that the Under is 4-1-1 in the Giants last 6 road games but the Over is 12-3-1 in the Saints last 16 home games. The Under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings between the two teams.

In R.B.I. Baseball, the 1980s video game that is popular in the Yankees’ clubhouse, Sabathia’s favorite player is Bert Blyleven of the 1987 Minnesota Twins. If he can channel the real Blyleven on the mound, the Yankees will be thrilled: Blyleven won twice in the A.L.C.S. that season to lead his team to the World Series. Outside the Bronx, there's less about the waning Rush Limbaugh martyrdom than you might expect, and more about the nascent Brandon Jacobs martyrdom. Steve Serby gives us the transcript of an unhappy interview with the bruising running back, who's been overshadowed so far this year by his diminutive backup, Ahmad Bradshaw.
