I have used Vonage for a while and it does well plus they don't rape you as far as fees. My total bill is like 27.50 after taxes.

I am planning on home schooling my son for 3 months prior to emigrating, which will mean he doesn't have to change schools twice.
Any experience/advice? I know there are no set guidelines to follow but others' experience will be appreciated!
We're off to Oz and ys, he'll be at school there once we're settled!
Here, in Australia, kids don't necessarily start school until they're 6 so whatever you do/don't do shouldn't become a big issue between him and his classmates once he starts school here.
However, if you wish to give him a 'heads-up' on some of the things his future classmates in Australia may have already attempted....
At any Australian Primary school there is usually an emphasis on English (reading and writing), Maths and the Study of Society and the Environment (SOSE). Students usually also have music, sport, drama, computer studies, science, art, and learn a language (LOTE -- Language Other Than English).
A website such as http://www.primaryschool.com.au will give you a better idea of the things his future classmates (or, at least, those who did prep or transition (which, I think, is called 'reception' in england) ) may have already attempted.
Education is organised at state/territory level though, not nationally as it is in England...and can vary considerably between different states/territories, for instance, at 6 yrs old, your son'll be on level one in some states and level 2 in others. You might also try searching http://www.google.com.au for 'the name of the state you're moving to+early+learning+standards'. Or see below.
Also if you already know where you'll be living, check out the website of the local primary school(s) as, here, schools still have freedom to vary the curriculum to meet their own (local) needs.
Depending on where you'll be living...

My boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to the New England states next week. Our plan is to buy loads of lobster and bring them home. Any ideas or guidance will be appreciated ! Also....what's a good price ? We can go anywhere on the coast and want the best seafood for the best price possible. Thanks for all your ideas !
Where else but the "Lobster Capitol of The World" also known as Rockland, Maine! Prices change daily, but this is the biggest source.
Take I-95 North to the Portland/I-295 exit. Stay on I-295 to the Brunswick/U.S. 1/Coastal Route exit. Go about another 55 mi. to Rockland. The harbor will be in front of you as U.S. 1 turns left. You'll need to ask around at that point. It is a working harbor.

I'm living in Connecticut (USA). Things here are not cheap!!!
My fiance and I are planning on having a home built. We've only taken a few steps in the process but we're getting there.
We've made this decision becuase we can get something custom made that fits our budget.
My fiance is much more educated on the subject than I am. My step father is also very familiar with the business (hes consantly buying lots, building houses, and renting them out or selling them)...
I'm just curious, about how much will it cost to build a 1200-1500 square foot house in Connecticut. We're living in the valley so things arent as expensive as they are in other parts of the state, i'm just looking for an estimated guess.
My step fahter is currently building a duplex, when its finished he estimated that he'll have spent a little under 150,000 to build it (2 bathrooms per unit, 3 bedrooms per unit..so a total of 4 bths, 6 beds, and 2 kitchens!
We're just looking for something basic, 3 bedrooms 2 bathrooms a kitchen and a living room...and if theres extra space maybe a little bonus room for an office or something. 2 car garage.
We've found a few lots that are going for 100,000 thousand..
So if we can build a house for 150,000 that brings us to a total of 250,000 to build the house (which would come out to 50,000 less than our budget)
Is it cheaper to build on just one level? or will it not make too much of a difference to have a second floor?
A basic rule of thumb is to multiply the square feet you want by $150.00 and that will give you a really good ballpark figure. The more bells and whistles the higher that square foot price goes. So you 1500 square foot house will cost about $225,000.00, that of course does not include the land. Good luck.
My fiance and I are planning to move to England after we finish librarian school. It is nearly impossible to own a home and start a family in the USA with the economic problems this country is facing. How easy is it to buy a home, find a job and get settled in England?
Citizenship may prove problematic (as it would here).. their is a waiting list and some of the requirements are more stringent than ours... such as proving your qualified for an underutilized industry.
The economy there is strong though (and the Euro beats out the dollar by about 50 cents), but taxes are heavy.
It's hard getting set up anywhere, I can't see doing much better than you'd do here.
