Anybody know of any cheap home phone services in NJ that DON'T require broadband internet connection?

I keep seeing ads for ten dollar a month home phone services but they all work using your existing high speed internet connection. Are there any cheap ones that don't?

Oh yeah! I have a friend who is an I.R for all telecommunications services. I'm sure she can hook you up with some really good deals in NJ. Her web site is www.tiffanyvague.acnrep.com or you can email her direct to kaiden4@aol.com Just let her know what you are looking for, she may ask a couple of questions then she can find something best for you. That's what she did for me!

Keeping my existing number on a new home phone service?

I want to get a home phone and transfer my existing cell number to my home phone. Are there any phone services that can do this?
I don't have a high speed internet connection at home so Vonage and similar VoIP services won't work for me.

The issue here is whether the cell number you currently hold is in the same geographic area that the landline serves.

For instance, if you have a phone number in the 312 area code (central Chicago) and you live somewhere in the Chicagoland area, you could reasonably ask AT&T to port that local cell number to your landline.

However, if you have that 312 number and you are requesting service in Boston, Verizon will probably not honor the request since they and ATT don't want to go through the trouble of figuring out how to associate your 312 number to your Boston location.

Porting from cell to landline is rare. Landline to either cell or VoIP is more common. Porting between cell carriers is possible. Porting between VoIP is dicey, though.

What are some of the best prepaid home phone services available?

I am looking for a prepaid home phone service with a reasonable monthly rate

I've never seen a pre-paid home phone service, unless you want the MagicJack device, which is neither a phone service nor phone provider, just a device so you can make calls using your USB port!

can anyone suggest the best home phone service provider for the new england area?

i just bought a house and i would like to get a land line/home phone. i use my cell phone quite a bit but i want something at home so that i don't have to rack up my cell minutes. can anyone suggest something that offers a good plan but is pretty in expensive? thanks!

I have used Vonage for a while and it does well plus they don't rape you as far as fees. My total bill is like 27.50 after taxes.

  • Qwest Prepares to Cancel Wireless Service

Customers subscribing to Qwest Wireless phone services have until Oct. 31 to switch to another provider before phones are be disconnected permanently.

Since Qwest canceled its cellular phone operations in May 2008, the company began offering bundled mobile phone services through Verizon Wireless. Customers who bundle Verizon services with other Qwest home phone or DSL services are not affected by the service cut, Qwest spokesman Mark Molzen said.

"We've been trying to communicate with our subscribers, but the bottom line is that they are Qwest customers and obviously we want to serve them. We want to make sure that no one is without service come Nov. 1," Molzen said.

With no penalty for transferring mobile phone service to another company and an option to retain a Qwest phone number, more than 90 percent of Qwest mobile phone customers already have switched to an alternate cell phone provider.

Remaining customers received repeated mailed notices of the service cancellation. The company in September began rerouting any non-emergency call placed by a Qwest mobile customer to a corporate call center to remind users the phone service soon will be unavailable.
