Who are some reputable but inexpensive new home builders in Ontario Canada?

We're thinking seriously about moving to Canada but all of the home builders we've seen online seem really deluxe (read: high-priced) as compared with some of the home builders we've looked at in Chicago. We just don't really know where to start looking and would appreciate some help. Thanks!


I cant comment on the "high - priced". but some of the good ones are Mattamy homes, Aspen Ridge, etc...

Cost per square foot for new home building in Ontario, Canada?

Hi! I was wondering if anyone knows what the current average for home building is, per square foot, in Ontario Canada.

If you do (even approximately), can you give me a quick idea of what was included (i.e. lot, services, etc.).

Just had one custom built in Ontario...A rough estimate is $125 per square ft not including the lot, hydro hook up, well/septic (if rural) or driveway.
The $125 per square ft did not include the blueprints and will cover a basic house...any extras such as extra insulation, built ins, any changes or upgrades are all extra...make sure you are aware of everything your builder will allow for.

My new home in Sudbury, Ontario has mice and the damn agent said it was a clean house- cause for lawsuit?

Should I consider a lawsuit against my real estate agentfor lying?

When I visited the house, everything was clean but a few days after I moved in mice starting popping out everywhere and chewing my property. I was deceived by that damn real estate agent and he should've done everything in his power to kill the mice before making the outragous assumption that it is a "clean house".

how much would it typically cost to build a new home and steel shed in or near windsor ontario?

I am looking to build like a 3 bedroom 2 bath typical nothing special home and putting in a large steel shed or barn perhaps 20' by 40' or so


It really all depends on what materials you are willing to use, the size of your house, the stuff you will put in it, and the overall amount of money you are willing to spend. However, my brother built a house in 2005 in Vero Beach, FL for around 180,000. (3BD,2B). Hope that gives you a general idea.

what kind of insurance do I need for a group home in ontario?

I would like to open a group home and I was wondering if anyone knew what kind of insuarance I would need for doing so in Ontario. I will call an insurance company tomorrow but would like to rest my head for the night with some advice.

    How "green" is the Garden at 1034 Bob Scott Court in Newmarket?

    It's at least 50 per cent more "green" than a lot of its competitors' offerings.

    The 2,695-square-foot house built by Garden Homes at its Stonehaven site in Newmarket, is one of the first in Ontario to meet the Green Builder Challenge issued by the recently launched Sustainable Housing Foundation. The eco-model has exceeded the goal of saving 50 per cent in energy when compared to houses constructed to building code standard, at minimal extra cost to the homebuyer. Its monthly energy bill is estimated to be $64.30.

    "We started working toward this challenge about a year and a half ago. It's very good challenge," said Garden Homes president Ignazio Giardina at the model home's launch last week, when he received EnergyStar and Green Builder Challenge certificates for the model home. The builder is also aiming for LEED (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Silver certification. "I think we are now one of the most advanced green builders in Ontario."
